Nursing
Theories and Nursing Practice 3rd Edition PDF Download Ebook. Dr
Marilyn Parker and Marlaine Smith explore the historical and
contemporary theories that are the foundation of nursing today. This
book meets the needs of today s students with a new focus on the models
that define the best outcomes and provide the evidence that supports
nursing practice.
For each theory, you ll find an introduction to the theorist, a
description of the theory s role as a model for nursing practice, and an
examination of its application in clinical practice. Readers will
understand how the theory has been used in the past and evaluate it as a
model for clinical practice.
The purpose of this book is to honor nurse theorists and those nurses who use theory in their day-to-day practice by reflecting on the contributions of the great nurse thinkers and doers throughout history. This book is written for baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral students to assist them in understanding the various nursing theories and ways they can be used in practice and scholarship. It is also written for nurses who want to enhance their knowledge of theory.
The book is divided into four sections: Perspectives on Nursing Theory; Evolution of Nursing Theory: Essential Influences; Nursing Theory in Nursing Practice; Education, Research, and Administration; and Nursing Theory: Illustrating Processes of Development. Many theorists wrote their own chapters or chose persons to write that are experts in their particular theory. Each chapter begins with an outline and ends with a summary.
The pattern for each chapter was selected by individual authors to provide freedom for their particular writing style. In general, however, each author introduces the theorist, the theory and then discusses its use in practice, research, education and/or administration. An instructor's manual is also available.
